• ‘The self is zero and infinite at the same time’ – *D.T. Suzuki’s concept serves as the foundation for  a performance that integrates live music and visuals. A dialogue between music and visual art. ‭ ‘The self is both the point at the center of the circle and all other points. It is a point and a circle at the same‬ time’ says D.T. Suzuki, likening it to a paradox. The self is a fluid‬ phenomenon: zero when viewed statically, but infinite and changeable when viewed dynamically. This‬ performance will visualise the dialogue between live music by Howie B. and images by Hiraki Sawa in the style of a‬ riddle-like ‘Zen Mondou. ‬ ‭D.T. Suzuki studied Zen Buddhism in Kamakura and is credited for introducing Zen to the English-speaking world in‬ the early 20th century. A close friend of Jung, Heidegger and Erich Fromm, he‬ contributed greatly to the development of ideas such as mindfulness and well-being.‬   Live art & sound performance + DJs. 8pm til late at Boro Gallery, 7 West Register Street, Edinburgh.
